News Alex McLintock writes "Here are just some of the books received for review. Please contact us (info at diversebooks.com ) if you want to review any of them. I expect to be at the London Ton this Thursday in case you are going too."

These two books are published on the 6th of October and are available from Earthlight, no I mean Simon and Schuster, oh I don't know.

The Fall of Lautun by Marcus Herniman. This is a new author for me. This paperback is the third of a trilogy so someone who has read the first two books is needed to give it a fair review.

Rulers of the Darkness is the fourth volume of the "Through the Darkness" series. I think of Turtledove as a hard sf writer but this volume has got dragons on the cover. Hmmm.

Hodder and Stoughton have sent us our first horror novel in a while: "Vampyrrhic Rites" by Simon Clark. You may remember that Simon Clark's Night of the Triffids was well received by DiverseBooks.

But Hodder have also sent us "DUNE: The Machine Crusade". Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few years you will know by now that Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson have been writing prequels to Frank Herbert's Dune Saga. We have mixed feelings about this. The writing is average and only exists to cash in on the great brandname that was "Dune". However I enjoyed those Dune prequels that I have read so far.
