Stanley Bowes informs us of his new non-fiction book The Teflon Scientist, an account and analysis of the hearing where Dr Oppenheimer ("the father of the atomic bomb") lost his security clearance.
This book contradicts a 50-year old legend that Dr. Oppenheimer, "father of the atomic bomb," lost his security clearance because of a witch hunt. The legend says the hearing was instigated by vengeance seekers whom he had humiliated or frustrated, abetted by political bigots suspicious of his political past. The hearing was flawed, but even a flawless hearing could have revoked his clearance. A flawed trial does not acquit. It requires rehearing. This book is, in essence, a rehearing of the clearance hearing, plus background material for readers not familiar with Oppenheimer and the case's attendant circumstances.
