Open Source for the Enterprise--new from O'Reilly
posted by Markus on Sunday December 04, @08:33AM ( Printer Friendly Version. | Email this article )
News O'Reilly informs us of their latest book, Open Source for the Enterprise (no, not the space ship. interesting thought, though...;-)
Open source software may be changing Information Technology, but making it work for your company is more complicated than simply installing a copy of Linux. If you're serious about using open source to cut costs, accelerate development, and reduce vendor lock-in, you need to understand how open source is different from commercial software and what responsibilities and risks it brings.

Self Published Fantasy Children's Novel: Farperoo, by Mark Lamb
posted by alexmc6 on Saturday October 22, @08:09AM ( Printer Friendly Version. | Email this article )
Book Sellers Recommendation from Julie Rigby (Childrens books at Foyles):
Here is a book to look out for - it is a wopping 800 pages long hardback the size of a small text book. It has stunning artwork in it. I have not read the whole book yet but it looks quite good.
The book is called Farperoo and is a debut novel by Mark Lamb. It's a children’s/adult's crossover novel which I think will appeal hugely to fans of Pullman and Rowling. This is the first book in a series of several he is writing (this book alone is around 800 pages), and I really think this is something very special. For more information or potentially a proof/review copy you can contact Nigel Eastman, or you can always drop into Foyles and get a proper copy, of course ;-)
