To celebrate our fifteenth birthday, Vintage has asked forty-eight reading groups affiliated to libraries around the UK to help select fifteen of its books that will still be read in 100 years time - fifteen 'Modern Classics'.
We have made the task easier by narrowing down the list to just 100 books from over 1000 novels in print in Vintage. Every one of the 100 books are strong candidates - cutting the list down to fifteen will be an heroic task.
The list of the final 15 will be revealed in September 2005.
